Covid 19 protocols

As many of you have been keeping up with announcements surrounding the Provinces 4 phase plan to slowly open the province to the general public, so have we.
We are sure you have many questions regarding our plans for returning to practice, mainly:

1) When will our offices re-open; We are OPEN!
2) What protocols will be in place when we do resume

Our protocols for your safety

Physical distancing & your next appointment

Our offices have implemented enhanced infection control protocols above and beyond the stringent policies we already have in place, created new patient flows to adhere to physical distancing guidelines and procured the necessary protective equipment to keep all of our patients and staff safe.

The office will contact you to reschedule your missed appointment, if you did not have an appointment and would like to book one, please give them a call and they will be more than happy to book you in.

We are working hard with reduced staff to reach all of our patients who have pre reserved appointments as we now have to schedule our workday in a different way and will need to reorganize some of our pre booked appointments.

Before your next visit, we wanted to highlight to you some of the changes that we have made to further protect your health. Here is the list of new safety protocols put in place:

Patient Screening

The day before your appointment, the office will call you to perform a ‘Pre-Appointment Screening’, for the purpose of determining if you have any COVID-19 symptoms before arriving at the office.

Patient protection station

At the front entrance, you will find a ‘Patient Protection Station’, which includes hand sanitizer and face masks for your use. After each appointment, staff will clean, disinfect and sterilize the operatory, instruments and all surfaces.

Interaction limits

For the highest patient safety, we are now organizing our patient flow into and of the office virtually. In order to minimize the number of patients in our front office, we are asking all of our patients to arrive at the designated time of their appointment and text or call us from your car / outside the office to ensure we have social distancing before you come into the office.

At our reception desks, we’ve installed plexiglass barriers and placed ‘Stand Here’ markers on the ground away from the desk to encourage physical distancing.

Physical Distancing

We have minimized the use of our patient waiting area to reduce the number of people in the office. We have left a minimum number of chairs for seating and ensure they are placed 2 metres (6 feet) apart. Our staff members will wipe down all surfaces with an approved surface cleaner as well.

Your comfort is our concern

If at any time, you feel unsure of the new protocols, feel free to ask the staff about the proper procedures. Signs may also be posted in specific areas to help guide you through the new process.

Staff monitoring

In addition to these new protocols, our staff take their temperature and monitoring screen for any COVID-19 symptoms upon arriving in the office. If they experience any symptoms, our staff will be required to quarantine for the mandatory 14 days in the event they are ill.

Protection and safety

In the slow open phase, we will be working with a reduced patient capacity, which means we will be seeing less patients in day. Please be patient with us, we are working hard to accommodate all of our patients needs in a safe and kind manner.

Upon arrival, we will ask you to clean your hand with hand sanitizer, use a face mask and take your temperature

We encourage all of our patients to come their appointments on their own whenever possible. Please advise the front desk if you do require a companion to your appointment. Any accompanying person will have the same arrival procedures.

You will see the clinical team wearing new protective gear in order to ensure the highest safety standards for our patients and our entire team. You will see your dentist, hygienists and dental assistants wearing gowns, face shields, N95 mask, level 3 mask and hair bonnets. It still the same people- just layered with protection!!!

As we continue to open slowly and to monitor the above protocols to ensure effectiveness, your office will keep you updated with any changes. We have opened both our Lonsdale and Marine Drive clinics on specific days and hours to ensure a safe and manageable reopen. If any of these protocols change and the office needs to need to reschedule your care at any time, they will contact you directly. Please monitor your emails or the clinic website for additional Public Health information.

Sincerely,
The Peak Dental Arts Team
