Dental Bonding Procedure in North Vancouver | Peak Dental Arts
Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-coloured resin is applied to the surface of teeth to improve your smile. Bonding is an alternative to porcelain veneers that can be used to fix teeth that are chipped, cracked, discoloured or misarranged. Bonding can also be used to increase the size of teeth and correct issues such as gaps.

This is one of Dr. Omar Virani’s favourite procedures to do as it combines art and science in perfect harmony. Hand sculpting bonding resin is an incredible technique sensitive procedure and in order for it to look natural and last long, extreme attention to detail is required.

How does teeth bonding work?

Dental bonding involves minimal downtime and does not require anesthesia unless you have an old restoration or there is tooth decay. Before the resin is applied, we will use a conditioning gel to roughen the teeth. We will then apply the composite resin and cure it using an ultraviolet light. Once the resin has been cured, we will shape and polish it to achieve the desired appearance.

Advantages of dental bonding

Bonding is relatively inexpensive when compared to other cosmetic dental procedures. Unlike crowns and veneers, dental bonding can be completed in one visit. Bonding also requires minimal tooth reduction.

Disadvantages of dental bonding

One major drawback of dental bonding is that the resin can become stained over time. Bonding may also chip or break. At Peak Dental Arts we’re proud to use Tokuyama bonding materials as this specific material has been shown to have excellent strength and esthetics. As a general rule of thumb, crowns and veneers are more stain-resistant and durable than bonding.
