Discoloured Teeth

Discoloured Teeth

Extrinsic and intrinsic factors can cause the discolouration of your teeth. Extrinsic factors include exterior stains on teeth caused by smoking, dietary issues, dental cavities, or disease and can be removed through regular cleanings and whitening procedures. Intrinsic discolouration is when the inner structure of the tooth (dentin) darkens or gets a yellow tint and usually requires restorative material such as bonding, veneers or crowns. Intrinsic discolouration can result from certain medications, dental materials, advancing age, excessive fluoride, or even genetics.
